Augusta Township sits in the United Counties of Leeds and Grenville, directly on the St. Lawrence River between Brockville to the west and Prescott to the east. The township spans 313.77 square kilometres at the meeting point of three distinct landscapes, the Glengarry till plain, the Smiths Falls limestone plain, and the Edwardsburgh sand plain, giving it a mix of riverside lowland and inland farm country.

Beyond its riverfront frontage, Augusta extends back into 25 named hamlets and rural communities, including Jasper, North Augusta, Maynard, Maitland, and Roebuck, each holding its own small corner of the township.
