Tay Valley

Tay Valley Township sits in the southwest corner of Lanark County, directly west of Perth and roughly 80 kilometres northeast of Ottawa. The township took its current form on January 1, 1998, through the amalgamation of the former townships of Bathurst, South Sherbrooke, and North Burgess, briefly carrying the name Bathurst Burgess Sherbrooke before adopting Tay Valley in 2002.

Eighteen small communities make up the township, including the administrative centre of Glen Tay along with Bathurst Station, Maberly, Wemyss, Scotch Line, Bolingbroke, and Stanleyville. Christie Lake stands out among the township's lakes, and Murphy's Point Provincial Park sits nearby, reflecting the area's strong pull toward outdoor recreation and rural living.

At 528.67 square kilometres, Tay Valley remains sparsely settled and largely agricultural, with farming continuing to shape both the local economy and the landscape between its scattered communities.
