This neighbourhood is very quiet overall, as there tend to be low levels of noise from traffic - although there are still several noisier sections, especially near the railway line, Highway 7, Highway 417 or the airport (Ottawa / Carp Airport).

The large percentage of single detached homes in the housing stock of Carp is an important part of its character. This part of the city offers mainly three bedroom and four or more bedroom homes. About 90% of the units in the neighbourhood are occupied by homeowners whereas the remainder are rented. The homes in this part of Ottawa are very modern, since the majority of its dwellings were built after the year 2000, while most of the remaining buildings were constructed in the 1960s and the 1980s.

Nonetheless, reaching the nearest pharmacy and accordingly some basic food items is typically easy.

The preferred method to move around in Carp is very often a car. It is very easy to come across a parking spot. In contrast, this area is not very transit friendly. Nevertheless, the neighbourhood is connected by a few bus lines, and the nearest bus stop is usually very close by. It is convenient to commute by bike in Carp. This part of the city is not very well-suited for those who prefer to travel on foot because very few common errands can be run without a car.
