Richmond

Richmond sits in the southwest end of Ottawa, about 10 kilometres southwest of Kanata and immediately south of Stittsville, with Richmond Road connecting the village toward downtown Ottawa. The village was established in 1818 as a military settlement, laid out by Major George Burke and settled by discharged soldiers of the 99th Regiment, and named after the Duke of Richmond, then Governor General of Canada.

The Jock River, a tributary of the Rideau River, runs through the village, shaping much of its layout and surrounding parkland. Richmond's housing stock spans heritage homes tied to its nineteenth century roots alongside newer single family homes, bungalows, townhomes, and rural estate properties on the outskirts.
