People who prefer a relaxed environment will enjoy North Gower. It is easy to get to green spaces in the neighbourhood, since there are about 20 of them close by for residents to explore and reaching a park is very easy from the majority of homes for sale. Most areas in this area are quiet, as noise from streets and other parts of the city is rarely an issue - although that is not the case closer to the airport (Rideau Valley Air Park) or Highway 416.

Homeowners occupy nearly 90% of the properties in the neighbourhood and 10% are rented. The large percentage of single detached homes in the housing stock of this neighbourhood is an important part of its character. Roughly 30% of properties in this neighbourhood were constructed in the 1960s and 1970s, while many of the remaining buildings were built pre-1960 and in the 1980s. This part of the city is primarily composed of four or more bedroom and three bedroom homes.

House buyers in this neighbourhood almost always have to use a vehicle to do groceries. With respect to education, primary schools are easy to get to by foot from most homes for sale in this part of the city. On the other hand, this neighbourhood does not have any high schools. Parents benefit from public and private elementary schools.

The favoured way to move around in this area is usually a car. Coming across a parking spot is easy. However, residents using public transit may experience few choices in North Gower by reason of the service's low frequency. Nonetheless, the neighbourhood is connected by a few bus lines, and it is straightforward to reach a nearby bus stop from most properties. It is very impractical for pedestrians to move around in this part of Ottawa since almost no daily errands can be run without a car. It is also difficult to commute by bicycle in North Gower since the terrain is not particularly flat, and the cycling network is not very well-developed.
